Background:
The Kingdom plantae includes all types of eukaryotic, multicellular, photosynthetic plants. Most of them are is autotrophs, which synthesis their own food with the help of solar energy. There are very few species, which are both autotrophs and heterotrophs. The hetertrophs are organisms that derive nutrition requirements from complex organic substances. The history of life on earth and the success of many organisms depend on the success of plants. Plants can also grow by cell division. They obtain their energy from photosynthesis. Plants are also lack motility which means that they can’t move.

Life cycle:
A plants life cycle includes sprouting; it develops roots, stems, leaves, flowers; then reproduces and dies. A plant starts of as a seed then develops the roots. These roots absorb water and nutrients for the plant. The leaves come next which help in the process of photosynthesis. Then the flowers grow and the flowers have pollen, which can help other plants grow. The flowers than give of seeds that are transported by the wind to a new location and the process starts again. |
Photosynthesis:
It is the process by which plants use the energy from sunlight to produce glucose from carbon dioxide and water. This glucose can be converted into pyruvate which releases adenosine triphosphate by cellular respiration and oxygen is also formed. Plants use the energy in this process to make their food. |
